Children of all ages learn about science at SciWorks – while having fun!!  Take a stroll through the 15 acre park (on a paved walking trail) and visit with the donkeys, goats, sheep, a miniature horse and cows in the barnyard exhibit.  Molly and Ollie, a very entertaining pair of otters, will entertain you with their antics as you peer into their underwater world through an 8’ high glass observation window.  Inside the center, you’ll be fascinated by the N.C. – From the Mountains to the Sea gallery with its interactive exhibits on the plants, animals, sea life, and geology of our state – from the mountains to the coast!  A short stroll through BioWorks will take you to SoundWorks – ever play a walk-on piano?  What about an invisible strings harp?  Continue on to HealthWorks where you’ll enjoy playing the game of “operation” - in giant proportion.  Learn about the various systems of the human body – or, pretend to be a dentist as you polish the teeth in a large mouth.  You’ll also want to blast off into outer space as you take in a planetarium show.  The "Millennium Fountain" features a 5,300 pound granite ball that is suspended in water – with the pressure of your kitchen faucet!  You can turn the ball with your hands – and then stop it and turn it in a different direction!  A visit to SciWorks is fun for the entire family!
