Bowman Gray Stadium is a 17,000-seat stadium, which can seat up to 28,000 for concerts and special events. It is the home of NASCAR's Whelen All-American Series, held Saturday nights from May through August on the flat, quarter-mile oval. Bowman Gray was the home to some of the earliest heroes in NASCAR. From 1958 to 1971, this asphalt track hosted 28 events in NASCAR's premier series. The racing continues to this day as part of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series with the featured Modified vision, as well as the Sportsman, Street Stock, and Stadium Stock Divisions.
