Events of the Season

Spring
RiverRun International Film Festival
– Held each April, the festival has a new home in Winston-Salem thanks to the University of North Carolina School of the Arts School of Filmmaking. The multi-day event features film screenings, filmmaking workshops and panel discussions. Other activities planned include a major Hollywood premiere and gala, filmmakers' parties and a street festival.

Salute! The North Carolina Wine Celebration - Enjoy wine tastings offered by many of North Carolina finest wineries, music, and cuisine from Winston-Salem restaurants.

Summer
Music in the Streets Series - Head downtown May through September. Thursday night features Alive After Five with pop and rock. Friday is Fourth Street Jazz & Blues, while Saturday night is Summer on Trade with bluegrass, pop, rock, jazz, blues and folk music.

National Black Theatre Festival - Held in August (in odd numbered years), participants can view more than 90 performances by the best black theatre companies in the world during this biennial event. It is an American Bus Association Top 100 Event.

Fall
Annual Piedmont Crafts Fair - Scheduled the third weekend of November, the fair, celebrating more than 40 years, features the Southeast's most accomplished craftsmen. Come to the fair and meet the artists.

Winter
Festival of Lights at Tanglewood Park - From mid-November through early January, Tanglewood is annually transformed into a Festival of Lights. It is the most magnificent drive-through holiday light show in the Southeast with more than one million lights. The festival features 200 brilliant displays, 70 of which are animated.
