Where is Winston-Salem located?
Winston-Salem is centrally located in North Carolina and is easily accessible via Interstates 77, 40, 85 and U.S. Highway 52.  As such, we are a convenient drive within the state, in the mid-Atlantic and East Coast.  Because of this, sporting events held in Winston-Salem almost always have increased attendance.





Is Winston-Salem located on an interstate highway?
Yes.  Winston-Salem is located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 52 and Interstate 40 (I-40).  Business I-40 runs parallel to I-40 through the downtown.  Interstate 85 is located just south of Winston-Salem and connects to the city via U.S. Highway 52.  Interstate 77 is located one hour west of Winston-Salem and Interstate 95 is two hours east of Winston-Salem; both are accessed via I-40.





Why would a sporting event, requiring air transportation, consider Winston-Salem?
Piedmont Triad International Airport's (GSO) layout allows individuals, as well as groups, easy movement from airplane to baggage to ground transportation.  Additionally, as a second-tier convention city serviced by multiple airlines, users typically find flight pricing more competitive than a single hub dominated city. The Piedmont Triad International Airport is 20 miles from downtown Winston-Salem and is easily accessible off Interstate 40.

Winston-Salem is the home of Smith Reynolds Airport. Located just north of downtown, it serves charter and general aviation.





Where are Winston-Salem's sports facilities?
They have strategically configured a series of sports venues in one convenient location.  Baseball, football, basketball and soccer facilities are all connected by a transportation infrastructure, which allows easy entry and exit.





How many hotels are located in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County?
There are 47 hotels with nearly 5,000 rooms in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County ranging in size from a four-room bed and breakfast to a 460-plus room hotel.  Accommodations are located near the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum (LJVM) Complex and Wake Forest University; in Clemmons near Tanglewood Park; in Kernersville; around Hanes Mall; within close proximity to business centers; adjacent to both regional medical centers; near Winston-Salem State University; as well as in the downtown and Old Salem areas.





What is the capacity of the coliseum?
The maximum coliseum floor space is 25,740 square feet.  It can seat 14,665 for an athletic event and 15,272 for concerts.  The coliseum has the ability to add partitions within its facility to allow for smaller events.  As a result, Joel Theater allows for an intimate setting with seating for 5,600.

Also within the coliseum are the new 3,290 square feet assembly rooms.  One of these three adjoining rooms is 1,650 square feet and features a built-in bar.  Theater-style seating in the rooms is as follows:  Winston Room – 287, Salem Room - 110, and Piedmont Room - 126. They are accessible via separate entryways or through the coliseum arena.





How many hotels (rooms) are within a 10 minute drive of the coliseum complex?
There are approximately 2,500 rooms in 23 accommodations, ranging from bed and breakfasts to full service hotels, within a 10 minute drive of the coliseum.





How many hotels have pools, and of those, are they indoor or outdoor?
There are a total of 25 hotels with swimming pools.  Of those, three have indoor pools, the Embassy Suites Hotel Winston-Salem, Marriott Hotel Winston-Salem and the Baymont Inn & Suites.

Winston-Salem's infrastructure, including major highways and interstates, allows sports participants the ability to travel across the city within 15 minutes.
