And we are the proud home of Wake Forest University as well as Winston-Salem State University -- both boasting an impressive and diverse sports programs, facilities and venues.
In just the last two years alone, Winston-Salem has proudly hosted the Powerade State Games of North Carolina and the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Basketball Tournament. And just last August, Winston-Salem enjoyed world-wide attention as it hosted the inaugural Winston-Salem Open, the ATP World Tour 250 tennis event, hosting such international tennis stars as John Isner, France's Julien Benneteau and Andy Roddick to name but a few.
Suffice it to say, our community is passionate about all sports and offers a variety of venues for almost every imaginable athletic event. Catch the buzz around our new BB&T Ballpark on the edge of downtown, where guests enjoy one of the minor league’s most stunning experiences. In addition, we boast our Coliseum complex is an impressive, flexible facility. We are sport an array of collegiate AAU facilities. Winston-Salem is also home to an impressive and expansive soccer complex and state-of-the-art golf center. Construction was also recently completed on JDL Fast Track, an indoor 200-meter flat track, tauted to be only the second facility currently of its kind in the North Carolina.
