Lewisville’s Perfect Pour: The Ultimate Sip Trip
Sip your way through a winery, brewery, and distillery on a quick backroads loop just west of Winston-Salem.
A winery, a brewery, and a distillery—all within minutes of one another in rural Forsyth County. The Williams Road Loop in Lewisville strings together three very different drink experiences along Shallowford and Williams roads, creating an easy half-day outing that feels worlds away, even though it’s less than 30 minutes from downtown Winston-Salem. Each stop brings its own personality and pace, from vineyard views to a homegrown brewery to a working distillery deeply rooted in North Carolina’s moonshine-soaked past.
Do the loop in order or mix it up, but the beauty is the simplicity—three standout stops, one scenic drive.
The Winery:
Medaloni Cellars
Medaloni Cellars is one of those places that immediately resets your sense of time. Perched on rolling hills just west of Lewisville, it’s one of only two wineries located in Forsyth County and the closest vineyard escape to downtown Winston-Salem, while still being part of the Yadkin Valley AVA. The setting feels rural and unhurried, but the experience is thoughtfully refined—rustic materials, polished details, and sweeping vineyard views that invite you to linger.
The tasting room offers small-batch, estate-produced wines crafted entirely on-site, with varietals that typically include Merlot, Chardonnay, and other boutique selections. Outdoor seating is plentiful, making it easy to turn a tasting into an afternoon.
What truly sets Medaloni apart, though, is its stay-on-site appeal. Guests can book overnight accommodations like Chateau Bergeron, a one-bedroom retreat designed for couples, or the secluded TreeHouse tucked deeper into the property. Each stay includes a complimentary bottle of wine, making Medaloni not just a stop on the loop, but a destination in its own right.
The Brewery:
Incendiary Lewisville
Incendiary Brewing’s Lewisville location could not feel more different from its original home at the Bailey Power Plant downtown—and that contrast is exactly the point. Set on a wide, open property off Williams Road, this second location leans into a laid-back, country setting where space, fresh air, and live music take center stage. It’s the kind of place where groups spread out, kids and dogs roam comfortably, and an afternoon can easily stretch into evening.
The taproom pours a rotating lineup of Incendiary favorites alongside location-specific offerings, with flights available for those who want to sample broadly. Food trucks are a regular part of the experience during warmer months, and the brewery’s event calendar is packed with live music—outdoor shows under a covered stage when the weather cooperates and indoor performances during colder seasons. The overall vibe is relaxed and welcoming, making it an easy middle stop on the loop or a place to settle in longer.
The Distillery:
Old Nick Williams Co.
Old Nick Williams is where the Williams Road Loop leans fully into North Carolina’s moonshine heritage. The Williams family’s distilling roots date back to 1768, and today the farm blends history with a surprisingly social, come-as-you-are atmosphere. Free distillery tours walk visitors through the production process and typically end with a tasting, offering a deeper appreciation for what’s in the glass.
The spirits lineup includes the flagship Old Nick Williams Straight Bourbon, Carolina Whiskey, Zeb’s Rye, and a range of rums and vodkas—including bolder options like cinnamon whiskey and ghost pepper vodka. After the tour, the Busted Barrel cocktail bar keeps things lively with craft cocktails, wine, beer, and a solid schedule of live music. Performances range from intimate indoor sets to larger outdoor shows on the expansive deck and grounds.
Family-friendly and dog-friendly, Old Nick Williams feels less like a formal tasting room and more like a gathering place—one that just happens to produce award-winning spirits.
