UNCSA - ACE Babcock Theatre
Free and open to the public film screening
Shot over a span of 16 years, Adulthood follows the stormy 20s and 30s of Amy and Terry as they stumble their way into something like maturity, drifting from partner to partner, job to job, and breakup to breakup.
Directed by Gary Mairs from 2008 to 2024 as a series of interrelated short films, Adulthood stars Amy Seimetz (Upstream Color, Alien: Covenant), David Nordstrom (Sawdust City), and Suanne Spoke (Whiplash, The Thing About Pam). It was written by James Benning (Allensworth), Tom Block, Theron Patterson (Dark Cloud) and Lee Anne Schmitt (Evidence). The shorts have been screened at festivals around the world including Rotterdam, Palm Springs, Zinebi, Courtisane and San Diego Underground.
Director Gary Mairs has been a distinguished faculty member at CalArts since 1997. He teaches Film History, editing, Realist style, Rock & Roll movies and the Western.
