James Gemma’s exhibit, The Early Days, traces his transition from realist art to the beginnings of his abstract art, and a change in medium from oil to acrylic paint. It is a condensed trip from pure realism through a realism/abstract combination to his initial abstract compositions on display in this show. From here, he has gone on to further abstract adventures including digital art creations.
Kimberly Varnadoe's exhibit, Passing Through, utilizes oil painting as a direct response to a personal passage through emotionally conflicting times. All people experience similar transformational stages of life and eventually we all encounter similar comedies and tragedies.
The images presented in this exhibit employ images of doorways and windows representing the passageways through life in our journey to discover the truths that we can live by. Everyone should have the experience of getting lost in life at least once, to find or create a new path in life. By appreciating and respecting the journey, we can cultivate a sense of wonder, curiosity, and reverence for our world, enriching our lives and inspiring us to forge meaningful connections with the people, places, and ideas surrounding us.
