About

Join our Gardens of Old Salem educators as you explore the legacy of NC's very own Monarch butterfly! Through this workshop series, learn and investigate the needs of the healthy monarch throughout it's life cycle. Witness Old Salem's recently hatched monarch caterpillars begin to grow and flourish, and see them introduced to their host plants!

For the second installment in this series, welcome our Monarch caterpillars to their new home by going out in the garden and harvesting some fresh snacks for them. We will also learn the difference between nectar plants and host plants and why it's so crucial to have both in a habitat or pollinator garden!

Friends of the Monarch is a 3-part series, but tickets may be purchased separately! Visit the ticketing link for more information on how to register for a single workshop or for the 3-part series. Workshop series is appropriate for those ages 16+ and meets in the Garden Education Center behind the Single Brothers' House.

See you soon!
