About
Join our Gardens of Old Salem educators as you explore the legacy of NC's very own Monarch butterfly! Through this workshop series, learn and investigate the needs of the healthy monarch throughout it's life cycle. Witness Old Salem's recently hatched monarch caterpillars begin to grow and flourish, and see them introduced to their host plants!
For the first installment in this workshop series, dive deep into the history of native milkweed species and learn how it was used by Indigenous peoples and the original residents of Salem. Take home your very own milkweed plant to plant in your garden and continue the historic legacy of the Monarch's favorite food.
Friends of the Monarch is a 3-part series, but tickets may be purchased separately! Visit the ticketing link for more information on how to register for a single workshop or for the 3-part series. Workshop series is appropriate for those ages 16+ and meets in the Garden Education Center behind the Single Brothers' House.
See you soon!
