July 4th Events & Fireworks in Winston-Salem


Celebrate America's 250th birthday around Winston-Salem with fireworks, parades, parties, and family-friendly fun.


Winston-Salem knows how to celebrate July 4th in style. After all, this is where America’s first-documented July 4th celebration took place back in 1783. Today, nearly 250 years later, the Independence Day spirit is alive and well locally—and there are plenty of ways to get in on the fun. Here's a list of all the festivities happening in town the week of July 4th.

 

Early Events: Parades, Festivals & Pre-Fireworks Fun

Old Salem July 4th

July 2–5
1776: The Musical. Presented by Winston-Salem Theatre Alliance, this Broadway hit takes a witty, humanizing look at America's founding fathers. Showtimes vary by day. Where: Theatre Alliance, 50 W. Sixth St. Cost: $23–$25.

July 4
Kernersville July 4th Parade. 9 a.m. Kernersville kicks off its July 4th celebration early with its annual morning parade. Expect marching bands, festive floats, and plenty of candy for the kids. Bring your chairs and claim a viewing spot along the route (first come, first serve). Where: Downtown Kernersville, E. Mountain and Broad Street. Cost: FREE.

July 4
Kaleideum: America's Birthday Bash. Kaleideum, downtown's hands-on learning museum, celebrates America's 250th birthday with patriotic crafts, sensory-friendly fireworks in the Digital Dome, and the crowd-favorite Red, White & Bike scooter and bike parade through Liberty Plaza. There will also be hands-on art activities, drone demos, and more. Where: Kaleideum,120 W 3rd St. (downtown). Cost: Included with admission ($12); free for members.

July 4
Independence Day in Old Salem. 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Celebrate America's 250th anniversary at the site of the nation's first-recorded Independence Day celebration. The day features a full day of festive fun, including hands-on activities, live music, garden tours, scavenger hunts, historic trades demonstrations, and multiple readings of the Declaration of Independence  Cost: Included with Old Salem admission.

July 4–5 
MUSE Semiquincentennial Stroll. Celebrate America 250 on a guided "2x2x250" stroll—two miles, two hours, 250 years of Winston-Salem history—led by local historians from colonial times through today. The walk wraps inside MUSE with a complimentary cold drink, snack, and souvenir, plus an exclusive first look at the museum ahead of its early 2027 opening. Tours run Saturday, July 4 (9–11 a.m.) and Sunday, July 5 (2–4 p.m.). Where: Tours depart from MUSE, 226 S. Liberty St. (downtown) Cost: Tickets are $30; registration is limited.


 

Evening Events: Fireworks, Concerts & More

Dash fireworks

July 1-5
The Dash America 250 Week. Gates at 6 p.m., games at 7 p.m. The city's hometown team are going all-in for July 4th with a week of patriotic salutes, family fun, themed jerseys, and post-game fireworks at Truist Stadium. Cost: Tickets start at $14. Highlights include:

July 2 | Boston Tea Party Night – Live reenactors, themed entertainment, and postgame fireworks.

July 3 | Americana Night – A nostalgic salute featuring retro-inspired entertainment and fireworks.

July 4 | 250th Celebration – The main event, featuring a pregame flyover and the city's official fireworks show.

 

July 4
Kernersville Concert & Fireworks. Gates at 5 p.m. Live music, food trucks, and fireworks highlight this annual celebration in nearby Kernersville. Bring lawn chairs or blankets and settle in—fireworks launch around 9 p.m. No pets, alcohol, or sparklers allowed. Where: Kernersville Elementary. Cost: FREE. (Food available for purchase.)

July 4
Carolina Disco Turkeys: Baseball & Fireworks. 6:30 p.m. The Dash aren't the only baseball team in town going big for July 4th. The Carolina Disco Turkeys -- a team of top-level college players -- will play at Wake Forest's Couch Ballpark. Expect a festive evening with post-game fireworks, local beer, and more fun. Where: Couch Ballpark,  401 Deacon Blvd. Cost: Tickets start at $10; free parking.

July 4
Salem Band July 4th Concert in Old Salem . 7:30 p.m. Cap off the holiday with a free outdoor concert in Old Salem as the Salem Band—the nation's oldest continuous mixed-wind ensemble—performs patriotic favorites and two world-premiere works commissioned for America 250. Pre-concert jazz begins at 6:45 p.m. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Where: Salem Square in Old Salem. Cost: FREE.

July 4 
Red, White, & Breathe Party 5 p.m.–2 a.m. Ring in the Fourth at Breathe Cocktail Lounge in downtown Kernersville with handcrafted cocktails and a soundtrack spanning every recent decade—'60s and '70s classics, '80s party anthems, '90s and early-2000s throwbacks, and modern favorites until 2 a.m. The party pauses at dark for the town's fireworks display, viewable from just outside the bar, then picks right back up. Kitchen open 5–9 p.m. for dinner and apps. 21+. Where: Breathe, 221 N Main St (2nd Floor) in Kernersville. Cost: FREE. (No cover; drinks and food available for purchase.)

July 4
America 250 Rooftop Party at ROAR. Celebrate July 4th from one of downtown's best rooftop views. ROAR’s fourth-story rooftop hosts live music by Fly The Band starting at 8 p.m., with a prime vantage point for local fireworks. Enjoy food, drinks, and access to all of ROAR’s entertainment—from bowling to arcade games. Where: ROAR, 633 N. Liberty St.  Cost: FREE. (No cover to enter; rooftop tables are first-come, first-serve. VIP seating and cabanas are available for purchase.)

July 5
Pops Concert: Stars & Stripes at Sunset. 7:30 p.m. The Piedmont Wind Symphony celebrates America 250 with a free outdoor concert Sunday evening in the Coal Pit, adjacent to Incendiary Brewing. The evening features patriotic favorites, iconic American music, and crowd-pleasing pops selections, beginning with a pre-concert by the PWS Brass Quintet and followed by a full symphony performance at 8:30. Bring a lawn chair and enjoy a summer evening under the stars. Where: Incendiary (Coal Pit),486 N Patterson Ave.  Cost: FREE.
