Nov. 1-3
Little Shop of Horrors. The Little Theatre of Winston-Salem presents this sci-fi classic with brilliant twists, side-splitting humor, and plenty of chills and thrills. Shows will be held at Hanesbrands Theatre.
Nov. 3
Banjo virtuoso Adam Hurt at Footnote. 2–4 p.m. Deemed a "banjo virtuoso" by the Washington Post, Adam Hurt has fused several traditional old-time idioms to create his own elegantly innovative clawhammer banjo style. His talents has earned him a worldwide reputation and concerts at venues such as the Kennedy Center in DC. He will be performing at Footnote Coffee & Cocktails presented by Fiddle & Bow.
Nov. 4
WFU Men's Basketball home opener. 8 p.m. The Demon Deacons’ 2024 basketball season kicks off this month with a home game Coppin State at Joel Coliseum. Other home games this month include North Carolina A&T (Nov. 7), USC Upstate (Nov. 13), Western Carolina (Nov. 19), and Detroit Mercy (Nov. 23).
Nov. 6
Reynolda House hosts Drinks at Dusk. 6–8 p.m. After the sun sets, Reynolda opens its doors to visitors ages 21+ for an evening of music, drinks, and art. Tour Reynolda’s exhibition, Founder’s Vision, view the Historic House featuring highlights from the permanent collection and go on a scavenger hunt for a chance to win a prize. Admission includes two drink tickets for soft drink, wine, beer, or cocktails.
Nov. 7
Murder & Margaritas: The Author’s Guide to Murder. 6:30–7:30 p.m. Bookmarks Bookstore is hosting authors Beatriz Williams, Lauren Willig, and Kate White for a conversation on their book “The Author's Guide to Murder,” which will be released Nov. 5. Tickets are $35 (plus taxes & fees) and include admission, a drink, a copy of the book, and access to the signing line.
Nov. 8, 30
Wake Forest football. The Demon Deacons wrap up their 2024 football season at Allegacy Stadium this month with games against ACC newcomer Cal-Berkley (Nov 8, 8 p.m.) and longtime rival Duke (Nov. 30, time TBD).
Nov. 9
Winston-Salem State Homecoming 2024. 1:30 p.m. The hometown Rams' weeklong Homecoming festivities culminate in a game against rival Fayetteville State at Bowman Gray Stadium. As always, there will be a variety of festivities in the days before and after the game, including pageants, parades, a vendor market, step shows, and countless celebrations.
Nov. 9
Piedmont Wind Symphony: Premieres! 6:30–7:30 p.m. The Piedmont Wind Symphony (PWS) kicks off its 35th anniversary season with a special concert featuring a number of debut and premiere performances. Tickets start at $26. Held at Centenary United Methodist Church.
Nov. 10
Kernersville Veterans Parade. 2:30 p.m.–4:30 p.m. The 2nd Annual Kernersville Veterans Parade will feature a magnificent display of patriotic floats, marching bands, military vehicles, and community groups, all proudly marching through the streets of downtown Kernersville. The route (Downtown Main Street and Beard Street) will be lined with American flags and cheering spectators, creating a festive and respectful atmosphere to salute our heroes.
Nov. 10
TOAST at Tanglewood Festival of Lights. Experience the awesomeness of Tanglewood’s Festival of Lights from a completely different perspective before it opens to the public at TOAST (aka, the Totally Outstanding Awesome Stroll through Tanglewood). The 1.3-mile walk is perfect for families, walkers, strollers, or waggoners of all ages and abilities. Enjoy hot beverages and treats from food trucks, fun activities, plus pictures with Santa. Nov. 14
Taste of the South. Enjoy Southern cuisine from local restaurants, craft cocktails, a silent auction, and live music at this 14th annual fundraiser for local nonprofit Authoring Action. The event will be highlighted a screening of student films. Tickets are $80 and include complimentary food, drinks, and more. It will be held at the Intergenerational Center for Arts and Wellness (2895 Shorefair Drive).
Nov. 15
Art Crush. 7–10 p.m. Held the third Friday of each month, this block party lets you experience the best of the Downtown Arts District with vendors, music, and extended gallery hours. Every month features a curated mix of visual artists and performers, creating a night of creative expression, exploration, and celebration. As always, ART Crush will be held at the corner of Sixth and Trade Streets. Admission is free.
Nov. 16
Expansive Soundscapes with the W-S Symphony. Immerse yourself in a mid-autumn concert at Reynolds Auditorium that spans the breadth of human emotion. Highlights include the lyrical beauty of Dvořák’s Cello Concerto, performed by the imminent Sterling Elliott. Tickets start at $10.
Nov. 21
WFU Face to Face with Anderson Cooper. 7:30 p.m. Wake Forest’s Face to Face series will feature a conversation with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, a globally respected anchor and correspondent for CBS’s “60 Minutes.” Cooper will be speaking on the election aftermath (among other things) at Wait Chapel on the campus of Wake Forest.
Nov. 23
Reynolda Village Holiday Stroll. 2–6 p.m. Start the holiday season with an afternoon of shopping, dining, and special treats at Reynolda Village, Shops & Restaurants. Enjoy dazzling décor, carolers in Victorian costumes, carriage rides, visits with Santa Claus, special sales, and unique finds.
Nov. 23-24
Piedmont Craftsmen’s Fair. Nov. 23, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Nov. 24; noon–5 p.m. Held annually at Benton Convention Center, this 61st annual event showcases the handwork of nearly 100 fine artisans from across the U.S. View live demonstrations of various craft techniques, mix and mingle with talented makers, and shop for one-of-a-kind gifts in all craft mediums. It’s the perfect way to kick off your holiday shopping season. $7 adults, $6 seniors and students, free for children under 12. (Purchase ahead of time or at the door.)
Nov. 26 - Jan 4
Christmas at Körner’s Folly. Each holiday season the 22 rooms inside Körner’s Folly are transformed with spectacular Victorian-themed décor. This year's theme "A Gilded Christmas" will be a delight for all ages. Visitors can take self-guided holiday tours take approximately an hour and are available during regular operating hours (last entry at 3 p.m.) Tickets are available online beginning Nov. 1 or can be purchased on-site.
Nov. 27
W-S Thanksgiving Eve Bar Crawl. 5–11p.m. The city’s signature Thanksgiving Eve event visits four iconic downtown pubs, where you’ll enjoy themed cocktails, festive ambiance, live entertainment, and more. There will also be select food specials, photo ops, a digital map of the pubs, and an event after-party. Best of all, the event is free to attend! Check in is 5-7 p.m. at Broad Branch Distillery.
Nov. 28
Turkey Strut 5k. 9–11 a.m. This 17th annual Thanksgiving Day 5k will be held around the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds. In addition to the 5k, there’s a 1-mile fun run for families and other fun activities. Strollers and dogs are welcome! All runners will receive shirts and medals with proceeds benefiting the local We Care House & Food Pantry. Participants are asked to bring at least 3 canned food items to donate.
Nov. 29-30
Merry Makers Market in Kernersville. 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Celebrate Black Friday and Small Business Saturday at this annual event at Paul J. Ciener Botanical Gardens in Kernersville. Dozens of artisans, makers, and specialty vendors will on hand, along with food trucks, a gift wrap station, and plenty of holiday cheer.
Nov. 29-Dec. 21
Old Salem Joy of Christmas Evening Tours. Held on Fridays and Saturdays from Thanksgiving through Christmas, these festive tours offer a rare chance to explore several historic buildings in Old Salem by lantern light. Costumed interpreters lead groups of 12 from stop to stop as you experience the sights, sounds, and stories of an 18th-century Salem Christmas. Nov. 29-Dec. 1
WrestleCade 2024. Dozens of wrestling’s biggest stars from yesterday and today will be at the Benton Convention Center for this three-day extravaganza. The event is highlighted by “Fanfest” on Saturday where fans can meet the sport’s biggest stars (Ric Flair, Kane, Kevin Nash, Sting, Dennis Rodman, and more) while checking out wrestling gear and memorabilia. Nov. 30 (and Dec 7,14,21)
Old Salem Saturdays at Christmas. 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Old Salem's weekly holiday spectacle is held each Saturday from Nov 30 to Dec 21. That's when you can experience the Christmas season at Old Salem to its fullest degree, as the historic district will be filled with the sights, sounds, and flavors of the season. An All-In-One Ticket grants you access to more than a dozen historic buildings, all adorned in period holiday decor. You can chat with period-dressed interpreters, watch festive trade demonstrations, shop for gifts, and even visit with St. Nick. Be sure to stop by Winkler Bakery to pick up some holiday treats before you leave. Tickets are $40 adults, $20 students, free for kids 0-3.
THROUGHOUT THE MONTH:
Concerts at the Ramkat. Downtown’s biggest music venue will feature a number of regional and national headliners this month. Highlights include The Wood Brothers (Nov 13), Vertical Horizon (Nov 14), and Ben Folds (Nov 11). Popular local and regional acts include the Couldn’t Be Happiers with Doug Davis (Nov 21), Town Mountain with Caleb Caudle (Nov 22), and Camel City Yacht Club (Nov 29). Life After Death: Day of the Dead Exhibit. A fall tradition at Wake Forest’s Lam Museum of Anthropology, Día de Muertos (Life After Death) celebrates the “Day of the Dead” Mexican ritual when families remember their dead and honor the continuity of life. It’s highlighted by colorful artifacts, images, historical notes, and festive displays (including skeleton-themed folk art). The exhibit will be on display through Dec. 6. Admission to the museum and exhibit is free.
