About
Aher’s series, Her Journeys, is a visual memoir of a woman’s inner and outer world as she walks through memory, identity, and transformation. Each painting captures a moment of pause, a breath, a shift in perspective revealing the quiet resilience and evolving thought patterns that shape her becoming.
Aher’s Series, Foundation of Thoughts, is a reflection of the quiet power that thoughts hold - subtle yet profound, fleeting yet foundational. Each brushstroke symbolizes a thought, some bold, some gentle, but all layering and weaving into the fabric of who we become.
Mary Beth Blackwell Chapman’s exhibition, Quiet, features a series in which she paints on linen, silk, or hemp, using soymilk she prepares and mixes with natural pigments such as clay, ochres, oxides, and other minerals. The colors range from earthy and subtle to rich and strong, depending on the pigment. The protein in the soymilk binds the pigment to the natural fibers. After painting the cloth, she uses thread in a variety of ways to add texture and definition. The works are spacious and primarily abstract
