About
Get your feet wet as we explore the fascinating world of a local stream. Together, we’ll search for creek critters—also known as benthic macroinvertebrates—that live in the water. Whether you're a curious beginner or an outdoor enthusiast, this is a great chance to connect with nature, learn how pollution impacts our waterways, and become a stream health detective!
We'll focus on finding bioindicator species—organisms that act like nature’s water quality testers. Some species can only survive in clean, healthy water, while others are more tolerant of pollution. By identifying which critters are present (and which ones are missing), we can uncover important clues about the condition of the stream and the surrounding environment.
