An exhibition of work by Elizabeth Sawyer Kelly and Cheryl Powell.
Elizabeth Sawyer Kelly's uncharted path led her to capture the scenes and ideas of her life in 2026. From roosters with their beady and, sometimes glaring eyes, to hopeful paths toward the light. Elizabeth’s work focuses on color, pattern, and design. Working primarily with watercolor and the occasional brushstroke of gouache, Elizabeth explored wherever her uncharted path led her.
Cheryl Powell's uncharted path led her to explore architectural subjects, one of her favorites, in a new light. Her fascination with the blue sky and the clean line of the buildings against that background was the starting point. Large shapes of flat bright color were painted with acrylic on a large canvas and minimal details were added. Initially that was the final goal, but her love of texture led to the use of collage papers laid over select areas of the painting to make subtle textural and color alterations.
