About

The UNCSA Symphony Orchestra is proud to present the U.S. premiere of Syrian-American composer and UNCSA alum Malek Jandali’s Symphony No. 5. Founder of the nonprofit organization Pianos for Peace, which aims to build peace through music and education, Jandali has been applauded by The Washington Post as “a uniquely gifted composer… among the superb composer poets of our time.”

Conductor James Allbritten also leads the orchestra in Mahler’s sunny Symphony No. 4 whose ethereal last movement — radiantly interpreted by UNCSA student Claire Griffin — describes a child’s vision of heavenly life with angelic voices joining in the jubilation.
