Our February show will feature works by three new Artworks members: Deborah Petermann, Karl Stauber and William Schumann.
Deborah Petermann’s work will include landscapes, abstracts, and figurative works. She uses color, texture, and gesture to embody the association between seeing and feeling, and to portray a sense of the moment.
Karl Stauber will be exhibiting hand turned wooden bowls and platters. He approaches each piece with a conceptual design and then allows the item to evolve based on what he finds within the wood, striving to bring forth the organic patterns unique to each piece of wood.
William Schumann’s pieces in this show were created within three months using a process he refers to as “roundabout”. While working on a piece he identifies small ideas; relationships between color, pattern, and movement that could be applied to his next painting. This causes stylistic shifts and it is only through these indirect pathways of artistic expression that he reaches his intended destination.
