Old in Art School: A Memoir of Starting Over by Nell Irvin Painteris a memoir about the author's decision to reinvent herself after retirement. Historian and Princeton professor, Painter enrolls in art school in her sixties to pursue drawing and painting, eventually earning both a BFA and an MFA. The book ties in personal narrative with reflections on creativity, race, and what it means to be an artist.
