About

Piano faculty member Dmitri Vorobiev delivers a not-to-be-missed concert spanning the life of celebrated composer Ludwig van Beethoven. The evening features three sets of variations: The first, set on a theme by German composer Ernst Christoph Dressler, is Beethoven’s earliest composition. The second, “Eroica” Variations, represents his middle period, borrowing from his symphony of the same name. Rounding out the program, the Diabelli Variations — considered a magnum opus of the piano repertoire — is one of his late works, representing many of the characters Beethoven used throughout his career and a monument of sarcasm in music. What will you discover through each variation?
